Impossibly, somehow, the once-lowly Free Kingdoms have triumphed! For generations the forces of evil had engulfed the Accordlands, but now the greatest, most prosperous faction is the Free Kingdoms, whose burgeoning dominance is felt across the entire continent. The Free Kingdoms are composed, generally, of good denizens working for prosperity and freedom for as many people as possible. Their influence has created a time of peace, rebuilding, and order for all officially-recognized governments and peoples. Within the Free Kingdoms the three most prominent subfactions are the Crownlands, Heresy Hunters, and the Cult of Yscar.
The Crownlands are the heart of a mighty and rapidly growing nation that strives to bring peace and prosperity to the Accordlands. They promote honor, order, and hospitality through the rule of the popular young king, Scot of Andover. Their respected military is led by a renewed order of paladins, and is blessed by clerics of the only religion allowed, the worship of Neus.
Heresy Hunters enforce the religion of the Crownlands through all means necessary, eliminating any belief systems that may oppose the Church of Neus. A disciplined order of both zealous believers and cynical punishers of evil, they are quick to slap the label “heretic” on those that oppose the Crownlands and its religious doctrine. Some see the Heresy Hunters as defenders of the faith, while others view them as crusaders eradicating all that stand in their way.
The Cult of Yscar are a splinter group, exiled from the Crownlands by virtue of their lycanthropic Mark of Yscar. They survive by following the tenets of the ancient prophet Yscar the Elder. Some Yscarites seek reconciliation with their enemies in Bascaron, while others want reintegration with the other Free Kingdoms. The Cult of Yscar strives for justice and peace, and knows not yet the part they will play in the coming wars.
