Press Release
The following is the press release from April of 2002:
The ABYSSAL ATTACK is Coming!
The Abyssal Attack is a unique promotion where stores across the world hold tournaments to rank the participants. The top four finishers win the coveted Red Wyrm Egg promo card. After all of the participants have been ranked, the 1st place finisher challenges the Abyssal Attack deck, which is played by the tournament organizer.
The Abyssal Attack deck has been built to provide an extremely challenging game. Should the 1st place finisher fail to conquer the deck, the 2nd place finisher then has an opportunity to challenge the Abyssal Attack deck. Should the 2nd place finisher fail to achieve a victory against the deck, then the 3rd place finisher gets a shot. This continues until one of the tournament participants beats the deck.
This will not only require a great amount of skill, but will also require a bit of luck. The player that finally defeats the Abyssal Attack, gets to OWN the Abyssal Attack deck, which includes a Red Wyrm Egg and the level 8 Abyssal Overlord: Qor-Teth (who is unique to the Abyssal Attack deck). Furthermore, three other Abyssals from an upcoming expansion are included as well. All of the cards within are playable in AEG sanctioned tournaments and events.
Only 3,000 Abyssal Attack decks have been printed and the demand for this event is huge! Do not miss out on this very unique opportunity. Sign up now, as supplies are extremely limited! Once the decks are gone, that's it! Each Abyssal Attack Kit will contain everything you need to run the event: including instructions how to run the tournament, how to play the Abyssal Attack deck, the Red Wyrm Egg promo cards and, of course, the Abyssal Attack deck itself."

On November 26, 2002, when a player requested a list of the deck contents on the Warlord email list, Erik Yaple replied with:
"There were two different decks, BTW.
"The difference was a two card difference and involved different spells. We did not try to keep them separate (sic) or pair them up. What people got was a
random two decks with each kit which may have been 1 of each or 1 of the same..."
The contents of only one deck are known at this time.
This could be either of the two decks!
